Make A List Of Items You Need

Before the school year begins, one of the best things you can do for your child is to gather all the supplies well before your first day. Make a list of the items you need before you ever head to the store! They may include supplies such as:

  •     Pencil pouch
  •     Black or blue ballpoint pens
  •     No. 2 pencils
  •     Highlighters
  •     Three-ring binders
  •     Spiral notebooks
  •     Folders
  •     Calculator
  •     Backpack
  •     Subject dividers

Make your shopping trip even more special by having your child pick their supplies from the list! This helps them take the lead and get excited for the school year to come.

Determine How Much Sleep You Need | Plan Out Your Morning Routine

Did you know children under 18 need an average of 10 hours of sleep a night for strong mental health? Your child’s sleep schedule is essential to their physical and mental function, especially in their formative years, so make sure to set a solid sleep schedule and stick to it.

Don’t forget about your own routine, either! Practice self-care by scheduling at least 8 hours of sleep each night so you can operate at your best. To make the most out of your sleep schedule, plan out your morning routine ahead of time to make the start of every day smooth and productive. That way, you don’t need to hit the snooze button to get enough rest.

Create A Study Schedule

Studying can be a chore at any age, so creating a study schedule and making it a habit is critical. Set aside time each day for your child to sit down and dedicate their attention to different subjects. You want to make this a specific time by putting it on the calendar or bulletin board to keep it consistent.

These study periods don’t have to be very long; 10 minutes at a time still adds up over the year! You can even encourage your child with various focus apps like Forest to eliminate distractions and make the process easier to get started.

Keep A Positive Attitude

School is stressful for teachers, parents, and students alike; however, keeping a positive attitude can make all the difference! This is where our Christian school curriculum makes an impact. We teach that obstacles are unavoidable, but we can handle any problem by staying determined and upbeat.

This also applies to parents. By having a positive outlook, your child can learn by example. It will also help you not get overwhelmed in the process, which keeps you healthy and attentive to your child as they navigate the new school year.
