2 Peter 3:18
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (ESV)
At PCA, we believe that each student is created in the image of God with a purpose. As students are immersed in learning from a biblical worldview, we watch them grow as learners, leaders, and followers of Jesus. In kindergarten through third grade, spiritual development focuses on worldview formation, biblical story introduction, and scripture memory. In fourth through sixth grade, spiritual formation focuses on a growing heart affection for Jesus, Bible content knowledge, ongoing scripture memory and loving our neighbors.
Bible
At the elementary level, students study the Bible and biblical truths within their classroom. Bible at PCA seeks to educate believers in the development of their faith to love God with all their heart, mind, and strength. Student growth is holistically displayed in growing desires, knowledge and actions aligned with Biblical truth. They will study through the entire biblical text twice as elementary students and memorize scripture weekly so that they might recall the goodness of God throughout their lives! PCA fosters transformational growth that equips students to apply biblical learning through critical thinking skills resulting in love for God and their neighbors.
Chapel
Each week students attend a developmentally engaging chapel at PCA. We love chapel day! Students and staff have a blast learning from God’s word, praying, and worshipping together. Chapels provide an opportunity for older students to mentor younger students in connect groups and foster skills that allow students to find a meaningful role in worship services for the rest of their lives.
Service: SHINE
Each spring, Project S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Him in Neighborhoods Everywhere) provides a faith-building experience for elementary students to share the love of God with the broader community. Through service, students gain perspective on God, His work and their role in spreading the Kingdom of God.
PCA recognizes that God is working through organizations and partner ministries to impact the community and looks to humbly serve alongside them. We are excited to partner with:
- Hospice of Michigan
- Food Gatherers
- Penrickton Center for Blind Children
- Detroit Public Schools
- Hope Clinic
- Fish and Loaves Food Pantry
- Alpha Baptist Foster Care Closet
