Safety & Security
Plymouth Christian Academy is serious about the safety and security of our student body. We comply with Wayne County school emergency drills. In addition, Canton has assigned police officers to all schools. The police officers assigned to PCA are Officer Kirby and Officer McNulty. They are frequent visitors to our campus and are knowledgeable about our building, grounds, and student body. In case of emergency, they will be some of the first responders to PCA.
Safety And Security Procedures
To ensure the safety of our students, parents and visitors are required to sign-in at the information desk upon entering the church and school building. Badges identifying parents and visitors are available at the desk and must be worn at all times while on campus. Before leaving the campus, please return the badge and sign-out at the information desk.
Fire Drill Procedure
The alarm will be a continuous horn until the building is vacated.
Student will leave the building in a quiet, orderly manner according to instructions.
Students should carry personal belongings with them. All school supplies/books remain in the room.
The door to the classroom is to be closed, but not locked. Windows also must be closed.
Class groups are to remain together in designated areas near the Barn. The teacher will take roll quickly
and report absentees as compared to the start of the period.
When the “All Clear” signal is given, students will return promptly to their rooms.
Tornado Drill Procedure
When a tornado drill announcement is made over the PA system, students and teachers are to go immediately to the hallways or restrooms of the building, away from any glass doors or windows. All students from the modular buildings and rooms 23, 25, & 27 will report to the activity center. PE classes must be moved inside the building. Other classes will be directed to the inside halls immediately outside their classroom. Students should move close to the wall in a layer fashion: everyone sitting “crisscrossing” fashion close together, with hands over heads and wait for further instructions.
In case of an emergency situation where the students and staff are in danger, PCA has established a lockdown procedure. Depending on the severity and nature of the danger, different levels of lockdown have been established. Please know that PCA administration will make every effort to ensure the welfare and safety of all students and staff. Parents are welcome to come to the school or call to inquire about their child’s welfare. If you have any questions about lockdown procedures, please do not hesitate to contact the Superintendent or Director of Student Services.
As a part of the Plymouth Christian Academy's pest management program, pesticides are applied on a routine basis. You have the right to be informed prior to any pesticide application made to the school grounds and buildings. In certain emergencies, pesticides may be applied without prior notification, but you will be provided notice (via the email address on file at school) following any such application.
Our pest control program is applied primarily in the hallways, restrooms, and in classrooms only as needed. Our primary pest concern is for ants. However, occasionally an all-purpose spray or roach bait is used. A certified technician performs pest applications.
Applications will occur after school on the following Wednesdays:
November 6, 2019
December 4, 2019
January 8, 2020
February 5, 2020
March 4, 2020
