Project SHINE is Plymouth Christian Academy’s Annual “Servathon” that brings true investment in the lives of our students, our community, and the legacy of our school.

During Project SHINE, we are privileged to shine the light of Jesus’ love into our community by serving him in neighborhoods everywhere! During the week of May 17-20, every PCA teacher, staff member and student will take time to serve various organizations from here on campus. By the time each class serves, more than 600 of us will have served over 2000 hours in neighborhoods everywhere!

Our Mission

Our mission is to SHINE the light of Jesus’ love into our community. Matthew 5:14-16 is our theme verse, and in this passage, Jesus is saying that as light “possessors” we are now to be light “transmitters!”

Believers, who in the power of the Spirit, are living out the reality of the “be-attitudes” in Matthew 5, should shine forth like the light of a city on a hill or a lamp on a stand. We must not try to hide from the world but let our influence count for Christ in such a way that God will get the glory for the good deeds in our lives and reflect the light of the Spirit of Christ in us.

Through project SHINE, our prayer is that our actions will speak louder than our words and that our service will open a door of opportunity to speak forth the gospel!

Ministries We Are Serving This Year

Although most projects will take place “in-house” this year, we are privileged to serve some of the following organizations:

Food Gatherers, PAWS Project, Gleaners, Project Linus, Salvation Army, Bandages for Ghana, Mott Children’s Hospital, Operation Teddy Bear, Bethania Kidnit Project, Waltonwood Senior Center, Salvation Army, Detroit Rescue Mission, and more!

Please know that we are serving the ministries for free. We ask nothing in return from these ministries. We sow into them by bringing food, service, and supplies, not to mention lots of beautiful smiles.

How to Participate in Project SHINE 2021

Over the course of their journey at Plymouth Christian Academy, our young people learn what it means to think outside of themselves and step out into the community to serve people and share their faith in hands-on ways.

The children and young people at PCA are leaders and servants in the making and God is empowering them to be vibrant, compassionate, sold-out believers with the courage to love and serve our neighbors.

Giving to Project SHINE is one way to participate: $50 will bring bread and canned goods; $75 will supply rescue teddy bears for children in crisis; $250 will provide looms and yarn, care kits and blessings bags and $250-$500 will provide fleece blankets, socks, painting supplies and so much more. Please intentionally pray that God will touch the hearts of our students as well as those to whom we are ministering.

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
