Service Projects

See how our students have been serving their community!

Kindergarten–5th Grade | Hygiene Collection

Out of gratitude for God’s daily provision, our elementary classrooms joyfully came together to collect more than 1,600 hygiene items for the Detroit Public Community School District Office of Homelessness and Foster Care. Through this effort, students learned that caring for others is one way we respond to the love we receive from God.

5th Grade | Independence Village Partnership

As an expression of the love God shows us, PCA 5th graders continue a meaningful relationship with the residents of Independence Village. For the third year in a row, students visit multiple times throughout the year to play games, share stories, and build friendships—moments that are deeply valued by both residents and students alike.

6th Grade | Coats for Kids Drive

Moved by thankfulness for the ways God provides for our own needs, PCA 6th grade families donated an incredible 188 coats for children in foster care—far exceeding expectations. These coats were shared with the Alpena Foster Care Closet and foster care partners in Wayne County, helping children across Michigan experience warmth and care through the generosity of our community.

7th Grade | Hospice Blankets & Hygiene Kits

In response to God’s compassion toward us, 7th graders packed over 200 hygiene kits for Another Day Resource Center, each including a handwritten note and a favorite Scripture. Students also created 12 handmade blankets for individuals in hospice care, offering warmth, comfort, and gentle reminders of God’s love during life’s final season.

8th Grade | Hospice Grounds Clean-Up

With grateful hearts, the 8th grade class served at Arbor Hospice by completing fall grounds maintenance, including leaf collection and general cleanup. Even through the rain, students worked faithfully to care for a space that offers peace and rest to individuals and families walking through grief.

9th Grade | Emergency Lunches, Hygiene Kits & Hospice Blankets

Out of gratitude for the care we receive, freshmen responded to multiple community needs by collecting and packaging emergency lunches and hygiene kits. Students prepared over 200 lunches for Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti, each including a handwritten note of encouragement sharing God’s love. They also assembled 43 hygiene kits for Lighthouse Personalized Nursing Care, each containing a bookmark and handmade keychain highlighting the story of salvation alongside a favorite Bible verse. In addition, students created 10 blankets for individuals receiving hospice care, offering comfort and warmth during a tender season of life.

10th Grade | Hygiene Kits & Winter Gear for kids in Detroit Community Public Schools Office of Homelessness and Foster Care

With grateful hearts, sophomores assembled over 200 hygiene kits, each including a card, bookmark, and handmade keychain highlighting the story of salvation alongside a favorite Bible verse. Students also prepared winter gear by attaching personalized notes to socks and hats, offering both warmth and gentle reminders of God’s love to students nearby.

11th Grade | Known by God Small Groups

With a desire to share the care they themselves have received, juniors chose to use their service time to lead upper elementary students in small groups centered on the truth that each person is known by God. Through building relationships and meaningful conversations, students encouraged younger peers in their faith and sense of belonging.

12th Grade | Senior Service Projects

The seniors completed a variety of service projects in small groups. One group of seniors planned, prepared, and decorated for a Christmas party for the Central Detroit Christian's after-school tutoring program, while others packaged invitations for Unity Church Detroit's Christmas Eve service, to be shared with neighbors of the church plant. Other groups of seniors sorted donations and supplies at the Salvation Army food bank on Main Street and the Detroit Public Schools Community District Office of Homelessness and Foster Care. Yet another team of seniors completed light demolition and cleaning work to help a local pastor prepare a space for an upcoming church plant, supporting the work God is doing in the Plymouth Canton community.
