Dear Plymouth Christian Elementary Families,
October 14, 2020, The completion of the 8th week of in-person learning! When the year began, we didn’t know how many days we would remain inside our buildings. With God’s grace and our PCA staff and faculty’s tremendous efforts, along with you, our PCA parents, our community has remained healthy. We’ve had some COVID cases and quarantines from those, but overall, this has been a tremendous success. The reports from our faculty about how much learning takes place inside the classroom is such an encouragement.
While we are celebrating this great news, we realize that the Michigan Supreme Court decision and orders from our counties have caused much confusion. This past weekend, we told you that we would not require face coverings inside classrooms for K-5 students. Those requirements were not part of our original Reunite Plan, so we wanted to press pause on that until we received further clarification. Since that time, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Wayne County have both upheld the orders for the use of masks in grades K-12. Please click HERE to read the MDHHS Emergency Order.
What will be in place at PCA beginning on Monday, October 19?
  • Face coverings for K-12th grade students and staff at all times (we will be delivering PCA branded masks to our K-5th grade students early next week!)
  • Adherence to social distancing
  • Continued emphasis on hand hygiene
  • Classroom disinfecting
  • Daily health checks
  • Obedience to the MHSAA Athletic Orders, which keep all safety measures in place
We are looking forward to the day when we are post-pandemic and can enjoy our school community without all of these precautions and safety measures. But in the meantime, we will celebrate the fact that we are together, anchored by our faith in the Lord as he directs us through these turbulent times.
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,” Hebrews 6:19
I am eternally grateful for your patience and understanding as we navigate these difficult days. Thank you!
Gratefully,
Caryn Huntsman
