Project SHINE 2015

Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (ESV)

Each year, Plymouth Christian Academy students, staff, and parent volunteers embark on a weeklong Servathon, Project SHINE. Project SHINE serves several purposes for PCA. The most important purpose is to open the eyes of PCA students to the needs of others and then train them to step out and serve. At PCA, we strive to produce students who will lead lives dedicated to learning, leadership, and service. Project SHINE helps us fulfill this mission by educating our students about the needs in our community and around the world, and then having them perform age-appropriate service projects or volunteer work.

Project SHINE also serves as a fundraiser for PCA. It works like any other “athon”; friends and family support the participant’s day of service by making grateful for the outpouring of support the school receives through this project.

Organizations We Are Privileged to Serve This Year:

  • Big Family of Michigan
  • Waltonwood Senior Center
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Mott Children’s Hospital
  • Salvation Army
  • Adopt a Soldier
  • AAA Resource Pregnancy Center
  • Judson Center
  • Penrickton Center for Blind Children
  • Gleaners
  • Focus HOPE
  • World Medical Relief
  • Detroit Rescue Mission
  • Starfish Family Services
  • Romulus Senior Center
  • ReStore Habitat for Humanity
  • Forgotten Harvest
  • Bandages for Ghana

Please continue to be in prayer about your SHINE letters or family donation, that God’s great love and blessing will flow through our school in a mighty way! Servathon packets are due when we return from Easter Break Tuesday, April 14, to your child’s homeroom/classroom teacher. There are also several items that we need to make this project a success this year. If you can donate or have any questions, please contact us at Development@plymouthchristian.org.
Items Needed:

  • Lots of flat sheets (any pattern)
  • Yards and yards of fleece material
  • Chapstick
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Small New Testaments
  • Hand sanitizer
  • White pillow cases

Thank you for sacrificially giving and praying for our students as they stand for Christ and serve in His name!
