Each year, Rotary Clubs across the country accept essays for a “Four-Way Essay Contest”. On Friday, May 11, 2018, the Rotary Club of Plymouth celebrated their 20th annual awards luncheon where they honored the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade first and second place winners of the Four-Way Test Essay Contest. According to Rotary information, “the Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of all the things we say and do:

    Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Winners were selected based on their essay submissions and honored at the luncheon that took place on May 11. The 1st place winners were awarded a $100 Barnes & Noble gift certificate and the 2nd place winners were awarded a $50 Barnes & Noble gift certificate.

Over 1400 essays were submitted to the Plymouth Rotary and five PCA students were among those that won. From the 6th grade, Anna Vought was a 1st place winner and Benjamin Holt was a 2nd place winner. From the 7th grade, Aidan Spehar and Aidan Rafferty were 1st place winners, and Lana Burger received a 2nd place prize.

In addition to winning this honor, only two students out of the over 1400 submissions are selected to read their essay during the luncheon. Aidan Spehar was one of the students selected for this reading.

Congratulations to all of the PCA students who were honored by the Rotary Club of Plymouth!
