On Friday, March 9, 2018, the PCA Middle School Concert Band participated in the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association’s District XII Band & Orchestra Festival. Hundreds of bands participated from around the state, with our band performing at Riverside Middle School in Dearborn Heights. The PCA Band performed Sunnygate March (Jared Spears), Chorale Elega’nt (Elena Roussanova Lucas), and Labyrinth (Michael Story) for a panel of 3 judges. Immediately afterwards, the band had 5 minutes to learn a brand new tunes – WITHOUT PLAYING. At the conclusion of the 5 minutes, they were expected to perform for an adjudicator. When all was said and done, the MS Concert Band earned Superior ratings from ALL 4 adjudicators – straight I’s.

Thanks to Sandra Harju for sharing this performance video with us!

Riverside Middle School is also the alma mater of PCA Band Director, Michael Hejka. While there this absolutely priceless picture was located in the hallway. Thanks to Mr. Hejka for his efforts to move PCA bands to the next level of ability and talent!
