The Hock Family

The Hock family joined the PCA community in 2014. They were initially interested in the Homeschool Partnership Program, but for reasons you’ll read below, they opted to send their daughter to PCA full-time. They are so grateful for the family they have found at PCA. “We can’t imagine not having our kids at PCA. We firmly believe God put PCA in our path to grow and encourage our family. We love the teachers and the community and would recommend the school to anyone who desires a caring and Christian group of individuals to help guide and grow your child.”
What do you love about PCA? The community! From the teachers to staff, to parents, to students, it is a body of people who truly care about one another!
How are faith and learning integrated at PCA? I see faith everywhere. It’s not just memorizing a bible verse or learning stories from the Bible. It’s recognizing God in the good and the bad, praising Him for student successes and leaning into Him through prayer and petition when students are sick or facing academic or personal challenges.
In what ways have you seen your child grow and develop as a result of their experience at PCA? I see the growth the most in my eldest daughter. She was painfully shy when she started kindergarten. Now as a fifth-grader, she is involved in performances and steps up as a class leader for projects and group activities.
What is the one word that best describes PCA? Caring. Everyone truly cares for one another. It is an authentic and genuine caring attitude from everyone you meet. They truly have your child’s needs at heart.
What would you tell another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at PCA? When we first considered PCA, it was our interest in the homeschooling program. We learned shortly after investigating this that we were pregnant with our third child and decided to enroll our daughter in kindergarten, rather than homeschooling that year with a newborn baby in the house. My daughter has severe food allergies, and as her mom, I was very worried about sending her to school. During kindergarten round-up, I was greeted by one of the kindergarten teachers who had planned the snack specifically for her that day. She wasn’t even in school yet and they were already making sure the path was safe and inclusive for her! I knew at that moment we had found our school home!
