Knowing when to stay home sick and when to return after illness

Thank you all so much for your continued efforts to keep PCA safe by performing the daily student health screening before school each morning and keeping students home who are under the weather. Since we are approaching the cold and flu season and will be spending more time indoors. I thought this would be the perfect time to remind us of the health standards we have in place. These standards give direction for making decisions about when a student should stay home from school and guidelines for when and how they can return after being sick. We are following the Wayne County Health Department guidelines, and this past week they issued new recommendations regarding the symptoms to keep a student home. We mentioned this in the Eagle News on Friday, so I want to provide a new emoji graphic decision tree that reflects that change, along with our parameters for return. I want to encourage everyone to print this graphic and use it as a resource from now on.

Again, thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this difficult situation. I look forward to the day when COVID-19 is completely behind us and our life at PCA can return to normal. Until that time, we are devoted to the health and safety of all in our midst. Thank you for joining with us to love one another in this way.

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:1-4

Gratefully,
