Honors 2015

Date: Jun 2, 2015 Tags: School NewsThere are many ways that PCA students are recognized at the end of each school year. From the Elementary Character Awards Chapel, the Elementary “Specials” Chapel (Fine Arts, PE, Spelling Bee, Math Olympics & Robotics), Elementary Academic Awards, Senior Night, and the Honor Society Night, students are recognized for their character, hard work and achievements. On Monday, June 1, 2015, new students were inducted into the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and National German Honor Society. Seniors who have been a part of these organizations were also recognized and given their cords and stoles to wear at graduation.
Plymouth Christian Academy holds membership in the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools. The purpose of this organization is to stimulate academic excellence, provide service to the school and community, to build excellent character and enhance leadership skills. Membership is based on a 3.7 grade point average for all subjects taken since ninth grade, references, leadership roles, and community service. National Honor Society is responsible for the PCA After-School Tutoring Program, the PCA Annual Blood Drive and a variety of other service projects at PCA, including working as tour guides for the PCA Open House and helping with the annual auction and the All-School Picnic.
The National Art Honor Society is a national organization through the National Art Education Association and selection is based on grades, good character, and a recommendation from the Art Department. The goals of the organization are to provide avenues for recognition of the artistic talents and to provide leadership roles for visual art students, to further the creative abilities of these students, bring art to the attention of the school and community through community service, and glorify God in all its efforts. The organization is responsible for maintaining the art display case, aiding art faculty with displaying artwork at school art exhibits, sponsoring art competitions as well as volunteering at the Welcome Picnic and the PCA Auction.
Congratulations to all students who were inducted into these societies last evening and to the seniors who have served so faithfully! To view the pictures from the evening, you’re invited to visit our FACEBOOK PAGE.
