An Encouraging Word

In I Corinthians 15:58 we read, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

The last seven weeks of school can be tough on a family. Many families are looking forward to the summer break. Parents and children alike are fatigued by the work involved in school and start coming in later, not wanting to study for tests, slacking off in the neatness of their handwriting, and generally letting down. It is very important that we have a conversation with our children about how much the last seven weeks of school can impact next year. Many of our children get lackadaisical in their attitude about their work efforts or just quit trying to work hard on tests. What they don’t understand is that teachers are really watching their progress the last seven weeks and are making decisions about grades and concerns for next year for each child. As parents, it is our job to encourage them verbally and spiritually about staying the course and finishing strong. Every day at school provides your children with more information that they will need for a lifetime. Every day their breakfast is important, their mindset and focus is important and the spiritual fuel they receive from God’s Word before they come to school is important for their overall performance. Let’s make every day count and encourage our students to carry on with Christ’s help! Let’s remind them of God’s promise in Philippians 4:13 where we read, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I am praying for you!
Mrs. Huntsman
