Dear Plymouth Christian Family,
Late July has come quickly and with that, many new details we cannot wait to share regarding the plans to reopen PCA. This newsletter will provide a wide range of information that we know you will find helpful. I want to thank you all so much for partnership, and your patience as we work through the ever-changing landscape of COVID-19. At times like this, when all else seems to be shifting around us, I’m reminded in scripture that the Lord is our firm foundation.

This coming week, we plan to release our detailed Reunite school opening plan for preschool through 12th grade. This plan will give you a glimpse into the “day in the life” of a PCA student at various grade levels, and all the information you need to understand the policies and procedures we will be putting into place to make PCA the safest our school community can be. Again, thank you for your continued patience as we work through all these details. We are confident that you will be thrilled with this plan. Finally, I ask for your prayers for our students, staff, and faculty as we prepare to come back together in a few short weeks.

Packet pick-up day details you need to know

Back at Parent Orientation 2019, I mentioned that as a ministry we were planning to replace the parking lot. We have kept that commitment, have been working with contractors, and have already paid a very large deposit to start the project. When the pandemic began, we put a hold on the project with a deadline in August. Our deadline has arrived and so as to not lose the big deposit we have already paid, we are moving forward with the work. Starting August 3rd, our lot will be transformed. Places to park will be disrupted during this time so it has made it necessary to go virtual with our Packet Pick-up Day that was originally scheduled for August 14th. In addition to getting a much needed new parking lot, we also believe you will love the new systems we are building that will make your life much easier.
All forms you normally turn in on that day will be submitted electronically, and when you have completed and submitted all of them, you will receive an email with your student’s secondary schedule and elementary class list. Provided that you submit all forms in a timely manner, your class list and schedules will be emailed to you on ​August 14th in the afternoon​. In a time of information overload, we are feverishly working to include everything in one email with links for your convenience. We trust that this temporary adjustment will make school forms more accessible. This information will also be published on our website with all of the need-to-know information for returning to school.
We know many questions will arise due to this change, so hopefully, the following list provides those answers!
Kaiser Studio Picture Days
  • Secondary: Thursday, August 27, throughout the school day, 7:30 am-3:00 pm
  • Elementary: Thursday, September 17, throughout the school day, 8:00am-3:00pm
PE. Clothes
Elementary students will receive their P.E. clothes the first week of school.
Elementary Supply Drop-off & Classroom Visits
Elementary ​students and one parent have the opportunity to come to campus for 30-minute time slots on Monday, August 24 to visit their classroom, meet their teacher, and drop off supplies. All health and safety protocols will be in place on these days. This day will be organized alphabetically in an effort to reduce number of people in the classrooms at a time. The following is the schedule we ask our families to use according to their last name:
  • 9-9:30 am: AB
  • 9:30-10am: CD
  • 10-10:30 am: EF
  • 10:30-11 am: GH
  • 11-11:30 am: IJ
  • 11:30-12 noon: KL
  • 1-1:30 pm: MN
  • 2-2:30 pm: OPQ
  • 2:30-3 pm: RS
  • 3-3:30 pm: TUV
  • 3:30-4 pm: WXYZ

Secondary Locker Set-Up & Explore Your Schedule

Secondary ​students and one parent will sign up for one-hour time slots the week of August 17th through August 20th. There will be 25 slots per hour available. During this time, Student Ambassadors and PCA Support Staff will be available to assist you around the building and answer any questions you may have. Student & Parent Technology Onboarding Plan

We will offer a new STUDENT page for resources and materials students will need via Plymouth Christian Academy’s website. All resources for Google Classroom and Microsoft Applications will be provided via video, pdf, and presentation. Parents, this includes materials for Guardian Access on Google Classroom. Materials will be accessible 24/7. One excellent resource we will provide is the ability to submit technology questions and concerns in real-time to IT & Google SuperUsers. You will find access to this form on the new PCA student webpage. Watch your email for information regarding this page and your password to access it, your Google Credentials, and more.

Orientations are going virtual

  • The PCA All-Parent Orientation will be held virtually on Thursday, August 20. Details forthcoming.
  • Preschool and Begindergarten Parent Orientations will be held on Thursday, August 20. Details forthcoming.
  • The PCA New Family Orientation will also look different this year. We have a live Zoom webinar planned to help families successfully transition into the PCA community.
  • Classroom Teacher Orientations, K-12, will be pre-recorded and sent to your email along with parent orientation materials, class syllabus information, student expectations, and more. Teachers will provide a path for parents to ask questions.

Eagle Classic-A great way to keep our athletes in the game!

The 2020 Annual PCA Golf Outing is taking place on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center in Plymouth. We’re thrilled to be playing on their ‘signature course’ again– The Golden Fox! Registration & Range Access is at 8:00 am with a Shotgun Start scheduled for 9:00 am.
This annual event is the primary fundraiser for the PCA Athletic Booster Board. The ABB mission is to support our amazing student-athletes by providing uniforms, equipment, and other financial assistance for our sports programs. The ABB goal is to complement our student-athletes Christ-like attitude, sportsmanship, and athletic abilities by equipping them with the best uniforms, tools, and facilities in the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference (MIAC) and beyond.
