Celebrating the Class of 2020

In 2016, Plymouth Christian Academy in Canton, Michigan, began the tradition of a Senior Walk. The Senior Walk takes place approximately two weeks before graduation and allows the seniors to put on their caps and gowns and take one of their final walks through the hallways of their school. Our campus is spread over two buildings, so along the way, students from preschool through 11th grade, parents, and family members line the hallways and sidewalks, cheering for the seniors.
Since COVID-19 kept our students from their Senior Walk, we decided to get creative and turn it into a full-blown police-escorted parade through Plymouth. Our school community, and family and friends of each graduate were invited to join us on Tuesday, May 19 at 4 pm by lining the streets of Plymouth (socially distanced), decked in their purple and gold, and ready to make some noise. Following the parade through Plymouth, all guests were invited back to the campus for a “reverse parade;” this time, they drove through the seniors’ cars to congratulate them. The seniors were overwhelmed by both the number of people lining the streets of Plymouth and the line of cars that waited to drive through and congratulate them. When the “reverse parade” was over, we headed to our soccer field for some class pictures. In preparation, we had marked the ground with circles to create safe social distancing and gave the Class of 2020 the opportunity for some fantastic moments they will forever cherish. A huge shout out to the Canton and Plymouth Police for the escort, and for every volunteer who made this day possible! We love the PCA Class of 2020!
The official event video is still in the works, but in case you missed it, here’s a brief glimpse at all the fun. Thanks to Sharon Hay for sharing this video!
