An Encouraging Word

This month’s character trait is Caring. Training your children to care about others can occur several ways. One way you can train them to care is by example. When you hear someone is sick, have your children help you make soup or cookies and go with you to deliver it. Send a card together to encourage someone. When your children receive a gift, insist that they sit and write a thank you note immediately. By doing this, you are training them to show care and appreciation for that person and the gift. Purposefully training your children to care is our responsibility as a parent. They will not usually remember or know how to show they care. We, as parents, must think through how we would like them to show caring to others. It is worth the investment of time and effort. Every time I get a text or a hand written card from my own adult children, it makes me realize how glad I am that I took the time to train them when they were young.

I am praying for you,
Mrs. Huntsman
