An Encouraging Word

The character trait we are focusing on this month is “Caring.” We define ‘Caring’ as “Be kind. Be compassionate. Show you care. Express gratitude. Forgive others. Help people in need.” As a family, I would encourage you to take this definition, break it up and concentrate on a couple of its parts per week. For instance, week one, the focus would be about being kind and compassionate. Look up verses in the Bible about kindness and compassion. Discuss examples in the past where people have shown kindness or compassion. Encourage your child or children to purposefully look for ways to be kind and tell them you will be asking them how they were kind during the day. Encourage them to do random acts of kindness. A couple of weeks ago, I was driving through the drive thru at McDonalds. As I came up to the window, the employee said, “You are paid in full. The lady in the car in front of you just paid your bill!” Wow! How nice! If all of us were caring and kind, not necessarily looking for accolades about our nice deeds, what a great world this would be! Let’s encourage our children to be kind and show Christ’s love.

I am praying for you,
Mrs. Huntsman
