Secondary ExPlore Week
Modeled after the college January Term Idea, (J-Term), PCA’s ExPlore Week is designed to increase learning opportunities for students. We offer classes and experiences not typically available during the year, giving 9th-12th grade students an opportunity to study topics they are either passionate about and areas they would like to explore. The “block” or trip nature of the one week also allows for focused, in-depth study and deeper relationships with teachers and a small group of students. PCA’s ExPlore takes place during the spring of each school year.
Morning and afternoon classes help students discover new interests, test their creativity through classes held both on campus and around the community and grow in their faith. It’s a week to experiment, create, grow and explore.
PCA Sophomores and Seniors have the opportunity to experience both educational and mission trips. They learn about culture first hand, visiting museums, viewing amazing architecture and absorbing current culture. Seniors who travel to Costa Rica not only relax in the beauty of God’s creation on their senior trip, they also become the hands and feet of Jesus as they share the Gospel through word and deed.
Washington DC: 10th grade students have the unforgettable opportunity to experience our nation’s rich history and Capitol, first hand. Students experience the entire Smithsonian Museum Complex as well as Mt. Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the U.S. Capitol Building and the Gettysburg Battlefield.
Costa Rica: Seniors have the unique opportunity to visit the country of Costa Rica. The trip is coordinated through Joshua Expeditions, a non-profit Christian organization founded for the purpose of assisting schools and churches in bringing the world to young people and bringing the Gospel to the world. During this trip, students have many opportunities, including white water rafting, zip lining, enjoying a catamaran cruise, viewing a magnificent waterfall, volcano and visiting natural hot springs. The mission work on this trip is truly a highlight of their senior year, as they have life-changing experiences whether they spend quality time with orphans and school-age children or help local churches with their facility. This trip allows our seniors to learn and experience the people, places, and significance of this beautiful country. Learn more about Joshua Expeditions HERE.
A professional internship provides a unique opportunity to observe and experience a field of interest. These experiences can aid in career decisions that PCA students will be making in the near future, and more importantly, provide a great venue for discovering how God uniquely gifts, equips or prepares them.
Working in the classroom provides the opportunity to experience the unique and exciting work of a teaching career. Students who apply for an Educational Internship with a Plymouth Christian Teacher will perform tasks assigned to him/her by the school’s administration and will work closely with their assigned teacher. The work is rewarding and may lay a foundation to nurture a budding educator.
